Seeking Convivencia: Interreligious Dialogue as Lived Practice
February 23, 2022
As we round out Hispanic Heritage Month, here’s a look back at one of our previous events, cosponsored by the Catholic-Muslim Studies Program (CMSP) and Hispanic Theology and Ministry Program (HTMP) at CTU.
In Winter of 2022, CTU hosted Dr. Zeyneb Sayilgan and Marta Felicitas Galedary for an engaging conversation on interreligious dialogue as cultivated through shared exchanges in daily life, cooperative actions for justice, and grassroots contexts that nurture mutual respect and understanding between Muslims and Christians. The theological lens of lo cotidiano, as described through Hispanic inculturations of spiritual practice, is just one of many bridges that connects both traditions. But there are still bridges needing to be built to combat racism and Islamophobia, particularly in our country, and our guests for this event proffer some points of convergence and brainstorm some tactics for building interreligious community and bolstering interreligious dialogue in academic spaces.
